Pyer Moss closes Haute Couture Week by highlighting Black history.

While Pyer Moss is more known in the fashion circuit as a fashion brand that’s more streetwear-leaning than haute couture, it was invited by the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture for Haute Couture Week autumn/winter 2021. And Pyer Moss showed that haute couture can be more than just beautiful gowns and dresses. Focusing on Black excellence throughout history, designer and founder Kerby Jean-Raymond created quite literal interpretations of lesser-known Black inventions and accomplishments such as a traffic light dress, a peanut butter outfit, and perhaps, the most extravagant of them all, an orange-and-blue robe that was paired with a towering hairpiece made of rollers said to take four months to complete.

Louis Vuitton’s Seoul spin-off show featured House Ambassadors BTS.

Since announcing that K-pop phenomenon BTS would be Louis Vuitton’s House Ambassadors, not much has been done that involved both giants together; until recently. As part of artistic director Virgil Abloh’s vision for the menswear division of the house, a Seoul spin-off show was held for the autumn/winter 2021 menswear collection, in the form of a film. Titled Hope, the 10-minute showcase features BTS in the mix and wearing exclusive pieces made specifically for the show that are now available in Louis Vuitton boutiques.

Balenciaga made its haute couture return.

It has been 53 years since Balenciaga last showed an haute couture collection, and many heralded its return under creative director Demna Gvasalia during Haute Couture Week autumn/winter 2021. The collection was shown live in complete silence as a tribute to founder Cristóbal Balenciaga’s penchant for working in silence, and featured a diverse selection of models wearing both characteristically Gvasalia creations, as well as reimagined key pieces that are part of Balenciaga’s couture history.

Mulberry is back with Alexa Chung.

The latest chapter in Mulberry Editions — as part of the brand’s 50th anniversary celebrations — sees the return of a familiar partnership. The Mulberry x Alexa Chung is a capsule collection of a new silhouette (separate from the It bag that was the Alexa) available in two sizes. The Big Guy and Little Guy, as they’re both named, consist of a boxy shape inspired by vintage satchels as well as Mulberry’s Elkington briefcase that inspired the Alexa.

Puma and PRONOUNCE team up for a collection.

Inspired by an ancient archaeological site in Bolivia — somewhat conveniently named Pumapunku —Puma has collaborated with PRONOUNCE on a debut collection. Puma x PRONOUNCE takes cues from the ancient site by incorporating clay and archaeological influences into a collection that spans ready-to-wear as well as footwear. The latter includes new styles the likes of the Suede Mayu, Mirage Sport, and OP-1 PWRFrame.

Givenchy taps artist Chito for pre-spring 2022.

We’re almost entering the autumn/winter 2021 season but Givenchy’s already moving ahead with a special collaborative release of its spring 2022 collection. Only recently shown, the collaboration between Givenchy and artist Chito sees graffiti artworks splashed across a small selection of ready-to-wear as well as accessories the likes of Givenchy’s Antigona vertical bag and the 4G crossbody. But the highlight goes to a silver RIMOWA carry-on that’s personalised with Chito’s airbrushed artwork. The collaboration is set to drop this 16 July.
